ACTIA's digital tachograph - SmarTach

ACTIA was the first manufacturer to pass type approval for SmarTach in 2004 and is therefore approved by the requirements of the European directive 1360/2002. The European regulation 1360/2002 also called Annex 1B determines the technical functionalities of digital tachographs. 

The EC regulation 561/2006 published on March 15th 2006 officialised the date May 1st, 2006 to be the date when the digital tachograph should apply all over Europe. Since that date, the digital tachograph replaces the analogue tachograph in all new vehicles in transport that weigh more than 3,5 tonnes and vehicles with passengers in transport that has more than 9 seats.

Installation and calibration of the new devices will be carried out by workshops accredited by the Ministry in charge of that accreditation. These workshops will also be in charge of calibration and periodical inspection of these digital tachographs. Additional products and parts can be found at these workshops.
